We’ve rebuilt our community tooling from the ground up and are making a major leap in OAT’s open‑source commitment. New services (including modern User Experience) are ready for publication. I am also proud to announce that I have been appointed as the Ambassador for the Open‑Source Community at OAT, excited to collaborate!
Why this revamp?
Over the past months, we worked with contributors and power users to rethink how our tools support real‑world community needs , this effort resulted in an increased User Experience for test takers with TAO Advance, Graders with TAO Grader and Tests Administrators with the TAO Portal.
This release marks a significant jump in OAT’s open‑source commitment.
Built for inclusivity
Our mission is open education for everyone, including communities in low-resource countries. Concretely, we are:
-
Embracing open source so more people can adopt, adapt, and contribute.
-
Prioritizing low-TCO hardware compatibility to reduce barriers to entry.
-
Supporting open education practices that work in diverse contexts.
Innovating with AI
Alongside this release, we’re launching an innovation program starting with AI to explore responsible, transparent, and practical AI-driven enhancements across TAO. Community participation is key: we’ll co-design pilots, share findings, and iterate together.
