What I Learned at Learning Impact Europe: Why Openness Matters

Hi Folks,

Last week I joined the Learning Impact conference by 1EdTech, and it was three days packed with great discussions about how we are shaping digital learning. Few things really stood out for me and I wanted to share them with all of you:

Interoperability makes life easier: no surprise! Open standards like LTI, QTI, and OneRoster are helping schools plug tools together more smoothly and avoid getting locked into one solution.

Open source encourages creativity: When people can build on shared foundations, they move faster and spend less time reinventing the wheel. It also means solutions can be adapted to fit real needs from the day to day.

AI and data bring responsibility: A lot of focus was on making sure AI is used transparently and ethically, with standards keeping data portable and trustworthy. This will be likely one of the areas we want to learn more, as there is lots of noise at the moment but low adoption in large scale.

Ecosystems are everything: The best results happen when schools, vendors, and communities actually work together, here openness is what makes that possible. Guess what TAO is the lead open assessment solution in the market

For me, the big takeaway is that the future of edtech is open and collaborative, and that’s how we’ll make it scalable, sustainable, and most importantly, centered on learners.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: I’m curious: how are you seeing openness (through standards or open source) make a difference in your work? And what challenges do you still run into?

I though to leave some pictures as well about the event here

See you soon!
